Ballito property sales increase despite crippling economy

Sales in Ballito and surrounds have increased significantly from previous years compared to other areas.

The weak rand and increase in inflation has left consumers struggling to keep afloat in the current economy.

Despite the rapidly spreading doom and gloom, real estate agencies around Ballito have reported that property sales have not been negatively affected.

In fact, according to top real estate agencies, Wakefields, Remax and Pam Golding, sales in the area have increased significantly from previous years compared to other areas.

“Many of the clients are not interested in renting but in buying”, said Wakefields real estate agent, Molly Frank.

“The free-standing houses in Ballito sell for no less than R2 million and apartments average R1.7 million.”

The area, which is synonymous with luxury, has in recent years become a prime spot for property investment, offering buyers excellent value for their money.

“Although property in Ballito is expensive, we must consider that it is one of the most conveniently situated areas on the North Coast. Residents have access to shopping centres, the beach and the airport is just 15 minutes

away,” said Vish Naicker from Remax.

Pam Golding’s Neil de Beer said that young buyers are uncommon but that the middle-aged to elderly are most likely to invest.

“We find that the middle aged to elderly, white men or couples are the main buyers. Many find Ballito to be a comfortable spot for retirement. Younger people are usually interested in renting or sharing apartments. Only a

selective few consider buying.”

De Beer added that with the incredible sense of community, Ballito “fast becomes a place that one can call home, making the hole-in-one’s pocket a lot easier to deal with.”
