March on pet crusaders

Sables Creatures a pet rescue, non-profit organisation, is holding a food and clothing drive to help the poor.

Township pet owners are always happy to see the Sables Creatures team arrive with love, knowledge and help for their pets, but on May 21, they are bringing something more.

Sables Creatures’ Dee Allan has often been into the townships with the team members to help dip, de-worm and give basic pet care advise to the poor.

In an attempt to give back to the pet owners who, despite having little to nothing themselves, are trying their best to give their pets a good home, the pet rescue non-profit are holding a food and clothing drive.

“In a joint effort to help the needy in poor communities, we are collecting toys, children’s books, non-perishable food, diapers and clothes. All donations go towards giving the needy a helping hand in poverty stricken areas and community centres such as Kwa Mama,” said Allan.

The drop off points for the donated items are at Mozambik Ballito, 4 Boulevard Centre and at Mersat, unit 6, The Quarter, Ballito.

“The plan is to go into the local townships on May 21 to distribute the food and clothing.”

Sables Creatures have already received some generous donations, such as Netcare St Augustine’s Hospital that donated linen.

“We are hoping to find a sponsor for some vaccinations, so we can vaccinate pups and young dogs. We will also dip, de-worm and do some basic treatment for the animals we see, while we are visiting.”
