UPDATE: Tongaat plaza hijacking
The man was in a critical state and advanced life intervention was needed before paramedics rushed him to Victoria hospital in Tongaat.
Earlier today a man was shot at the N2 Tongaat toll plaza in an attempted hi-jacking.
A 50-year-old man was driving a small delivery truck towards the Tongaat plaza when he was flagged down by the driver of a car parked near the plaza entrance.
“When the man stopped his truck, the driver approached him, produced a gun and tried to hijack the truck,” said IPSS Medical Rescue paramedic, AJ Gareeb.
“There was a skirmish and the driver shot the man through his left hand, held up in defence. The bullet went through his hand and into hi stomach on the left side. An x-ray later showed the bullet lodged in the right side of his abdomen.”
Gareeb said after the driver shot the man, he sped off in his car.
“The man was in a critical state and advanced life intervention was needed before we rushed him to Victoria hospital in Tongaat.”
