Prisoners escape in KwaDukuza

The police are still tracking down the escapees.

Two prisoners escaped from the KwaDukuza Police Station cells this afternoon, injuring a police officer in their bid for freedom.

According to a reliable source at the police station, one of the two men had been arrested for shoplifting and the other for robbery.

KZN police spokesperson major Thulani Zwane said he is still trying confirm the details of the escape.

The men are still at large.

 In January two police officers were shot and killed by two prisoners who attempted to escape from the police cells at Inyoni SAPS in Mandeni.
