KwaDukuza prisoners still at large

The prisoners overpowered and attacked a police officer in the cells on Sunday afternoon.

KwaDukuza police are still hunting for their escaped prisoners.

The police are calling for the assistance of the community in tracing the two prisoners who escaped the holding cells at KwaDukuza police station yesterday.

According to KZN SAPS spokesperson major Shooz Magudulela, the prisoners overpowered and attacked a female police officer in the cells while she was trying to lock after delivering their meals.

“They managed to escape through the store room roof. The officer was bruised on her left arm,” said Magudulela.

“A case of escaping from the lawful custody and malicious damaged to property is being investigated by KwaDukuza police. No arrests have been made,” said Magudulela.

The two men had been arrested for arrested for robbery and shoplifting.
