Mystery hijacking in Salt Rock

An abandoned vehicle found this morning is suspected to have been involved in the allehed Salt Rock hijacking.

A hijacking allegedly took place on Saturday, May 28 next to the Salt Rock soccer field, before Hugh Dent Drive.

Two days later, a Whatsapp message describing the incident has been making its rounds, but none can verify the source.

The message said, “A black Corsa bakkie stopped behind my mate while he was looking for a number. The hijackers hit him in the face with a brick and fled with the vehicle.”

The incident has not been reported to the Umhlali police, however, JP Viljoen from Viva Security, found an abandoned vehicle this morning in Richards Bay that is suspected to have been involved in the hijacking.

Anyone with any knowledge of the hijacking should contact Warrant officer Vinny Pillay at Umhlali police station at 032 947 9900..
