SAPS releases photos of KwaDukuza’s escaped prisoners

Anyone with information on the escapees should contact the police immediately.

KwaDukuza police appeal to the public to assist them to trace the whereabouts of two prisoners who escaped from KwaDukuza police cells on Sunday, 29 at about 5.15pm.

During supper on Sunday, when police officers were giving prisoners their meals, they were overpowered and prisoners tried to make a break for it.

“Two detainees, Snowy Maharaj (28), who was arrested for theft and Xolani Ngubane (25), who was arrested for robbery, managed to escape.

“They managed to escape through the store room roof. An officer delivering the food, was bruised on her left arm,” said  KZN Media Centre’s Major Shooz Magudulela.

“A case of escaping from the lawful custody and malicious damaged to property is being investigated by KwaDukuza police.

They are considered dangerous and the community is urged not to try to catch them by themselves,” said Magudulela.

“Anyone who knows their whereabouts or  is urged to immediately contact KwaDukuza police on 032-551 8200 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
