Two people have been murdered in separate incidents in the Tongaat area; one man was shot three times and the other was stabbed.

Tongaat SAPS are investigating two cases of homicide that took place on Sunday and Monday.

In the first case, police were alerted to a shooting at Teachers Trading in Magwaveni on Sunday, May 29 at 7.15pm.

“When police arrived there, they were informed that a man had been shot dead and had already been taken to Victoria Hospital,” said Tongaat SAPS spokesman warrant officer Manisha Maharaj-Mari.

“Police went to the hospital where they found that the man had died from two gunshot wounds to the chest and one on the right side of his stomach.”

The body was taken to the Phoenix Mortuary and was identified as Trevor Sannigadu (39).

In the second case, police are  investigating the murder of 28-year-old Thandolwakhe Nokay who was found with a stab wound to the left side of his chest at his home in the Pholani informal settlement, La Mercy.

“The stabbing allegedly took place on Monday, May 30 at 12.10am,” said Maharaj-Mari.
