Hijacking dummy ploy found at Ballito
Be aware of this clever ruse to get motorists to stop their cars.
Don’t be fooled and look twice before being a good Samaritan – it could save you from being hi-jacked.
The dummy of a person was found on the side of the road, outside Ballito near Compensation Station, on Wednesday, June 1.
Viva Security operations director, JP Viljoen, said the dummy, filled with rags and old clothing, may not fool anyone in the day, however at night the dummy has a more realistic resemblance to a human body.
“This seems to be a new tactic to get motorists to stop and get out of their cars to help the ‘ poor person’ lying in the road,” said Viljoen.
“A similar dummy has also been found recently in the Pretoria area.”
Viljoen warns motorists to drive with their doors locked and windows closed.
“Do not stop if you don’t have to, especially at night.”
