Strong women make a strong community
Annet Michelle Sewraj highlighted the importance of the officers having good coping mechanisms to deal with the stress associated with their line of work.
The female police officers of Umhlali Police Station last week got the once-a-year chance to kick off their boots and slip into heels to celebrate their womanhood.
Nation Builders treated the ladies to a delicious high tea held at the station, followed by a dance performance and poetry recital.
Motivational speaker and founder of Nation Builders, Annet Michelle Sewraj inspired and encouraged the ladies to continue their good work.
Sewraj commended the law enforcement officers for taking on a job that many women would shy away from. She highlighted the importance of the officers having good coping mechanisms to deal with the stress associated with their line of work.
She explained how to formulate a personal development programme for themselves.
“To make a positive, long lasting change in society, one must begin with implementing change in one’s own life. These personal internal changes will automatically affect your family and cause a chain reaction of change within the community and society at large.”
Sewraj’s talk was followed by Dr Poobalan Pillay, who spoke about women’s health issues.
Recently appointed station commander of Umhlali Police Station, Colonel Khethiwe Ntombenhle Makhathini reinforced Sewraj’s words, saying each woman must take time to build herself up, so that she in turn can build the community.
“We are grateful to Annet Sewraj for taking the time to invest into the lives of our local police officers and hope to work closely with Nation Builders in future community projects,” said Colonel Makhathini.
Sewraj has been conducting talks and workshops for various organisations. She can be contacted at Nation Builders on 084 589 0458 or (032) 946-3331 and nationbuilderssa@gmail.com.
