Glendale protesters leave flames of destruction in their wake

Protesters are also burning tyres and have blocked Glendale Road.

Glendale Road verges are on fire.

Residents from Glendale, unhappy with their councillor, are protesting along the P104 or Glendale Road according to Umhlali SAPS spokesman, Vinny Pillay.

IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst reported that about 300 protesters are burning sugar cane along the road.

Protesters are also burning tyres  and have blocked Glendale Road. Protesters have set alight the old French Club and sugar cane on the farms abutting Glendale Road, a local farmer said.

“Police seem powerless to do anything as the protesters are are setting fire to everything,” the farmer said. “They are leaving a path of destruction behind them.”
