Week 2 – The Firm Ballito challenge

North Coast Courier News Editor Lesley Naudé and Sales Rep Surekha Brijlall are on an eight week ‘Get Firmer’ challenge at The Firm Slimming and Health Clinic Ballito, based at Simbithi Office Park.

Lesley Naudé

The first of my weekly weigh-ins was very encouraging: I lost 400 grams! What an amazing feeling. The success has motivated me to stick to my healthy eating plan (for the most part) and made me feel good about my achievement.

Sarah and her staff at The Firm Slimming and Health Clinic Ballito,  are all about motivation. While I was being weighed I also noticed a sign on the wall announcing that participants who lost 10 kilograms in a month received a months free treatment. For people who want to lose big, that is a serious motivation!

Sarah Vernon even sent me a super helpful shopping list to make sticking to the eating plan easier and while weight loss is important I love that The Firm are quite scientific in their approach to getting healthy. When I was weighed my height was also noted and everyone’s goal weight differs according to their height. Apparently I needn’t lose any weight at all (I reach a pretty height of 1.77 m). So Sarah was very firm with me about not dieting hard and only eating healthy!

She has also recommended adding exercise to to my daily routine, so while the machine helps get me firmer, I can get fitter too. So here’s to a healthy lifestyle and fresh air – I plan to have plenty of both.

First I want to thank everyone for their words of encouragement, although it is the easiest thing I have ever done. My energy levels are growing every day and I am feeling amazing. So on week 2 everything is going great.

I really look forward to my twice a week 45 minute sessions as it really gives me a chance to have some “me time” and completely break away from the world. And honestly time seems to fly when you start the treatment.

I have completed two weeks and have already lost some weight and centimetres too. Needless to say, I am thrilled.

The eating plan is so simple and not the type to leave you starving afterwards and I feel great. One of my favorite snacks is the apple muffins that is part of the programme. Its really a nice treat when you’re looking for something to nibble on, on these cold winter nights.

It’s a blast watching my body change!
