Pedestrian killed at N2 Ballito
"The driver of the vehicle was taking his children to school."
A pedestrian has been killed on the N2, just past the Ballito off-ramp.
“The driver of the vehicle was taking his children to school,” said IPSS Medical Rescue‘s Paul Herbst.
“He said the man suddenly appeared from a bushy area next to the highway and even though all attempts were made, he was unable to stop.”

Crash investigator and lecturer at the Durban Accident Combating Unit, warrant officer Des Samuel said it was important that no-one removes evidence from an accident scene, such as the shoe in this accident.
“Many emergency services including bystanders pick up or sweep up this type of important and vital evidence from the scene. Ever heard the saying “knocked off his shoes”? This is factual because at time of impact, the pedestrian’s body is so relaxed that he literally gets knocked off his/her shoes.
“You would even notice at times the laces are still tied. We usually use the shoes or hats to determine the area of impact,” said Samuel.
