Couple shot dead at home, Shakaskraal

A round-up of the major crimes and arrests from the weekend.

Weekend crime briefs:

A man and woman were killed at their home in Nokobongo Township, Shakaskraal, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

“When Netcare911 paramedics arrived we found that both the man and woman had already died due to the multiple gunshot wounds they sustained,” said Netcare 911’s Athlenda Mathe.

“They were declared dead on scene by Netcare911 paramedics.”

Police are investigating the incident.

 

Early on Friday morning Kwadukuza Tactical Response Team, together with the Umhlali task team members received information about a man in possession of drugs at Lloyds Ntshawini Reserve, KwaDukuza.

Captain Nqobile Gwala said police searched the premises identified and found a plastic bag containing a hundred capsules of heroine to an estimated value of  R2000.

The man (31) was arrested and charged for possession of drugs.

He is expected to appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrate’s Court’s this week.

 

The person suspected to have murdered a man at  Teachers Trading in Magwaveni on Sunday, May 29  was arrested on June 2.

Police were alerted to a shooting at  Teachers Trading on Sunday, May 29 at 7.15pm and found that the victim, Trevor Sannigadu (39), had died from gunshot wounds.

“Investigating information received, Constable Woodraj from Tongaat Crime Prevention arrested Khanyisani Mabaso (22)‎. It is believed he could be linked to a number of other cases.  He appeared in court on June 6,” said Tongaat SAPS spokesman warrant officer Manisha Maharaj-Mari.

“Following this investigation, another six men were arrested and a 9 mm piranha firearm, live ammunition and a cellphone were recovered.

“The cellphone was positively identified by a complainant. This is excellent work done by Tongaat detectives, crime prevention police, Durban North police and the Durban K9 unit.”
