Giving back smiles

Operation Smile South Africa is a not for profit medical humanitarian charity that is dedicated to helping improve the health and lives of children and young adults.

Every three minutes a child is born with a cleft lip or cleft palate. For the past ten years, Operation Smile South Africa has been helping people smile again and now they are coming to the North Coast on June 16.

Operation Smile South Africa is a not for profit medical humanitarian charity that is dedicated to helping improve the health and lives of children and young adults.

Their aim is to provide free, safe reconstructive surgery to those born with cleft lip, cleft palate and facial deformities.

Program coordinator, Itumeleng Ramano said they will be giving people access to free surgery during the roadshow.

“I will be visiting clinics and health promoters to make people aware of the fact that we can help them and their children. No person, in any community, should have to live with the pain and isolation caused by correctable facial deformity,” said Ramano.

They will be visiting Ballito, KwaDukuza and Isithebe.

Potential patients and anyone interested in the campaign can contact the organisation through its toll-free number 08000SMILE (76453) or contact them via email Itumeleng.Ramano@operationsmile.org or on the Facebook page Operation Smile South Africa.
