Car crashes through Ballito shop window

A BMW drove right through the glass at Mad Hatters Party shop earlier this morning.

A black BMW drove through the shop window of the Mad Hatters Party shop at the Home & Decor Centre in Ballito this morning.

While causing considerable damage to the shop, no bystanders were injured.

The driver, a woman on holiday from Gauteng, is thought to have had a black out, causing her to accelerate instead of brake.

She was not seriously injured and was taken to Alberlito hospital for treatment.

This BMW crashed through the Mad Hatters Party Shop window earlier this morning.
A woman  in foils from the hairdresser across the way inspects the damage.

Her daughter Melissa Lourens was in the seat next to her and while quite shaken up she was not injured.

“I am just relived that my mom is ok but I am so sorry for the damage to the shop,” said Lourens.

The family were due to return home tomorrow.

Shop owner Max Greenblatt said he was relieved that no one in the shop had been injured.

“If someone had been standing behind the shop window it would have been a different story,” he said.
