UPDATE: Taxi assassin’s getaway vehicle recovered

A Blue/black BMW suspected to be linked to the murder of Mdu Tony.

The Umhlali SAPS task team and reservists recovered a vehicle this morning that is suspected to be linked to the drive-by shooting of Dolphin Coast Taxi Association’s Public Relations Officer, Mdu Tony.

Tony was killed last night after being shot in the head while sitting in his vehicle in Nkobongo, near Shakaskraal.

The shooters were driving a car with an ND registration number.

The abandoned vehicle, a blue/black BMW 323i was found in a sugar cane field in Tinley Manor with a few empty gun cartridges littered inside the vehicle.

Umhlali SAPS’s Vinny Pillay said the reason for the shooting remains unknown.

The necessary forensic experts are currently scrutinising the car.
