KwaDukuza woman shot 5 times by boyfriend

Lovers tiff spirals out of control.

KwaDukuza police arrested a 31-year-old man today for attempted murder after he allegedly shot a 29-year-old woman five times.

The arrest was made after the man handed himself over to the police and also handed over the handgun he reportedly used.

This morning at about 6.30am, the man confronted the victim, his girfriend, at her place of work at Ultimate Security in the central business district of KwaDukuza and shot her five times – to the forehead, neck, shoulder, right finger and left wrist.

According to police, he claims she was having an affair and had taken his money.

A case of attempted murder has been opened at KwaDukuza police station for further investigation while the shooter remains in custody.

He will appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrate’s Court soon.

The recovered firearm will be sent for ballistic testing.

KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Bheki Langa strongly condemned the shooting.

“I also commend the officers for arresting the suspect who will answer at court for his deed.

“I wish the victim a speedily recovery so that she will tell the police exactly what happened,” he said.
