We found out “Warrapen Keegan” from the horse’s mouth

"All my friends from the school I went to and my teachers ask for an autograph. I just laugh. Some people want me to take pictures with them" - Keegan Govender

Would you like to know “Warrapen” to Keegan?

The video of a fight which broke out between two friends in Seatides, Tongaat, has taken over the internet this week, making the video’s star Keegans overnight sensations.

Yesterday the North Coast Courier interviewed via Facebook Live one of the two Keegan’s to find out exactly “warrapen” during the fight in Seatides that some have described as the funniest video of the year.

Being the peacemaker among his group of friends, Keegan Govender (19) stopped the fight that broke out between two of his two friends Keegan Readdy (28) (throwing the punches) and his bra taking the punishment, videoed by another bra, Kavilan Pillay (24).

He is the voice behind the famous “Warrapen Keegan” that has inspired the funniest memes.

In the interview Keegan recounts how his friends got into an argument during a braai.

Keegan Reddy apparently felt that his wife had been insulted.

“My brother told me to stop the fight, thats when I got in the centre and I asked my friend Keegan warrapend.”

Caught up in all the action the camera man Kavilan Pillay’s did not realise he was standing in the hot coals and his shoe caught on fire, an aspect that has also been a source of many memes.

Keegan said the group of boys still hang out and laugh about the incident.

“We are still friends and everyone is soaking it up. They think the video is funny.”

Still a little unfamiliar with the spotlight, Keegan says that people recognize him and visit him at his father’s shop, Seatides Superite, where he is a manager.

“All my friends from the school I went to and my teachers come and ask  for an autograph. I just laugh. Some people want me to take pictures with them,” Keegan said laughing.

The group of now-famous boys have even been offered gifts.

“Lotus Fm offered to sponsor us three pairs of shoes. One for the guy’s whose shoe caught on fire, one for the Keegan doing the hitting and for the guy getting hit.”

We were glad to hear that the incident that took place about a month ago, did not ruin the boy’s friendship.

After all, they are “all bras here.”
