Preparations begin for Christmas Country Fair in Ballito

This year the 'Fair with Flair' boasts more than 90 vendors selling inspired Christmas gifts, jewellery, décor, furnishings, toys, clothing, fresh flowers and Christmas decor.

Preparations for this year’s Christmas Country Fair on November 2 and 3 at Collisheen Estate are in full swing.

Like busy elves, Christmas Fair Fund members have been working around the clock to ensure the fair will be an occasion to remember.

Convener Michelle Blake said, “Our aim is to offer visitors a unique shopping experience combined with an enjoyable day with friends in the beautiful Collisheen country gardens.”

This year the ‘Fair with Flair’ boasts more than 90 vendors selling inspired Christmas gifts, jewellery, décor, furnishings, toys, clothing, fresh flowers and Christmas decor.

The vendors have been hand-picked to showcase the best creatives in KZN. Many favourite vendors will return, while exciting new products will be on offer.

It’s so worth taking a day off!

Don’t miss Noble Ceramics, Maybru Clothing, Mandara Bags, The Block Shop, Resonate Jewellery or the Reid Collective, to name a few stalls to look forward to visiting.

The puddings and Christmas cakes are in high demand and The Courier spoke to Ballito locals Marydearne Boyce and Gaby Lyle, who are responsible for these popular Chistmas must-haves.

“I use my great aunt’s recipe for the puddings which my mum used before me. It is not too rich and heavy but delicious,” said Marydearne.

“I seem to have been making these puddings forever…at least the last 20 years. This year I have had two volunteers helping me bake the 60 puddings.”

Gaby said she starts baking the Christmas cakes in October.

“I bake 30 Christmas cakes and after the fair, more orders start pouring in so I am kept busy,” said Gaby.

Tickets at R60 per person (including tea or coffee and a treat) are available online on www.quicket.co.za – under Christmas Country Fair or at the entrance.

Breakfast and lunch will be available from vendors run by the gorgeous Delish Sisters, BBM Cafe and a market favourite – Out to Lunch with Debbie Rich as well as memorable curries prepared by Collisheen.

“We have catered for the gentlemen too with Craft Beer by The Great Railroad Brewery!” said Michelle.

For everyone’s convenience there will be credit card facilities at the fair.

“Please note that all vendors are under cover and that there is ample secure parking. We will have a number of dedicated special needs parking bays.”

The 2016 Country Fair is the 64th Fair hosted by the Christmas Fair Fund, a registered NPO. All funds raised at the Fair will be distributed to a wide variety of projects on the KZN North Coast.
