#FeesMustFall has been politically hijacked, claims local ANC
"The idea of free education originated with us"- KwaDukuza ANC
The ANC in the Greater KwaDukuza branch believe the #FeesMustFall protest has been hi-jacked by “people who have a hidden agenda against the government”.
“The ANC believes that those who cannot afford to pay for education should get free education, whereas the Democratic Alliance has never spoken about free education but they have hijacked our revolution,” said ANC chairperson Ricardo Mthembu.
Mthembu was speaking during the party’s cadres forum meeting held at the KwaDukuza town hall last Saturday.
He said the ANC knows that free education must be given to the people but a lot has to be taken into consideration.
“Money will be involved in this matter therefore we must be very careful that the decision taken will not backfire in the future.
“Free education is what we want and we will provide it, hopefully soon,” said Mthembu.
The issue of divisions within the ANC was also discussed as one of the biggest challenges facing the party.
Members were encouraged to be united to ensure the opposition does not get a chance to divide the party.
The branch also announced they are one hundred percent behind President Jacob Zuma.
“We are the defenders of our country and we must stick to it.
“If the ANC lose power people of this country will be in trouble big time,” said Mthembu.
