Ntshawini man killed over 6-1 Pirates loss

Orlando Pirates lost 6-1 to Supersport United.

A 20-year-old man who is reportedly an Orlando Pirates fan was arrested for murder in Ntshawini on Tuesday night.

According to KwaDukuza SAPS spokesperson Johannes Khoza two men got into an argument on Tuesday over the Pirates’ 6-1 by defeat by Supersport United when one of them was stabbed.

“A man was stabbed and killed and one person was arrested and charged with murder,” said Khoza.

The game took place at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga.

Orlando Pirates fans had been teased on social media after the Buccaneers suffered their heaviest defeat in years.

“We urge soccer fans to know that police do not tolerate any sort of violence due to the outcome of the game,” said Khoza.

The Pirates were last beaten by the same margin by Mamelodi Sundowns in the BP Top 8 in 1990.
