Thief shot by Blythedale security guard

A gun was put to the head of the security officer but he fought back and took the upper hand.

Three men were arrested and one of them was shot while trying to break into a house in Blythedale on the Dolphin Crescent on Tuesday, November 1.

KwaDukuza SAPS spokesperson Johannes Khoza said the man was shot in the chest by a security officer.

“The security officer responded to a call from their client and he was held up at gunpoint by the robbers.

“One of the men pointed a gun at the security officer’s neck and the others tried to take his gun.

“He managed to push the one who had a gun to his neck and shoot him in the chest.

The other two robbers fled.

Director of K9 Security Sooraj Maharaj said they searched the area and stopped a suspicious vehicle, arresting two of the occupants and also recovered a firearm.

The men were positively identified by the G4S driver as the two thieves who had just attempted to rob the house in Blythdale.

“A case of attempted robbery has been opened,” said Khoza.
