Robbers attack Umhlali security guard
The security guard was assaulted while patrolling the old ice-cream factory in Umhlali.
A Megaforce security guard was assaulted while on duty at the old ice-cream factory in Umhlali at about 9pm last night.
“The guard noticed one guy coming towards him, then three more guys who had been hiding, appeared,” said Umhlali SAPS‘s Vinny Pillay.
“The men had been cutting up metal pipes from the old factory when they spotted the security guard.
“One of them assaulted him leaving him with an open wound to his head.
“He managed to escape and pressed his panic button.”
Megaforce, the police and IPSS Medical rescue arrived and the four men ran into the bush and were not found, according to Pillay.
“The guard suffered minor injuries,” said IPSS Medical Rescue‘s Paul Herbst.
Pillay said the guard spent the night at Stanger Hospital.
