Mandeni chief killed in hit

The chief had been sitting in his car with his daughter when the assassin opened fire, riddling him with bullets.

A chief was killed and his daughter injured in a drive-by shooting near Sundumbili Library, outside Mandeni, earlier this evening.

IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst said that when they arrived they found the chief had already died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.

“It is believed that a vehicle drove along side Chief Matonzi’s vehicle, a man jumped out and opened fire fatally wounding him in an assassination attempt.

“His daughter had been shot in the hand and was transported to hospital by paramedics,” said Herbst.
