Shayamoya man arrested for stabbing girlfriend to death

The alleged murder weapon, a knife, was found in his possession.

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, December 6 Umhlali task team arrested a man (44) for murder .

“It is alleged the man stabbed his girlfriend (37 ) to death at Shayamoya area in Shakaskraal after an argument at about 3.30am,” said Colonel Thembeka Mbhele.

“We received information about this incident and were told he was armed.”

Police found the man holed at the Shayamoya homestead and verbally warned him to leave the premises.

“The man refused and police used a patrol dog to chase him out and he was apprehended.

“The alleged murder weapon, a knife, was found in his possession.”

He will appear in the Umhlali Periodical Court today.

KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa praised the teams for apprehending the suspect.

“We cannot allow such things to happen in our society.

“We always say no to the abuse of women and children and those who are still abusing them will face the long arm of the law,” he said.
