Shedding light on the Blythedale electricity outage

Blythedale residents have been in the dark since yesterday evening.

Blythedale residents have been without electricity since yesterday evening and according to posts on social media, they are still in the dark as to what might have caused the outage.

KDM’s technical services electrical engineer Nick Hall  said the outage was caused by a cable fault.

“There is an 11, 000 (11v) volt cable fault in the area plus the 11kv direct feeder line failed (the jumpers are open) and the 11kv ring supply also failed.

“The faults were caused by the bad weather conditions.

“The team is in the area performing repairs.”

Hall said he was unsure of when the electricity would be restored but that his team were doing their level best to repair the damage.
