UPDATE: Etete protesters attempt to block R102

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes

A small number of protesters have once again blocked access to the R102 at Etete this morning.

Tree branches and rocks have been placed across the road.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes.

The protesters from Etete in ward 20 first closed the R102 early this morning in protest over houses promised to them four years ago.

SAPS were able to reopen the road shortly before 7am, but just after 8am the protestors returned to the road and closed it again.

According to residents one of the main frustrations is a lack of communication from the municipality as to the causes of the recurring delays.
