One person dead and two injured on R74

The driver and his two passengers were found on the side of the road after being thrown from the vehicle

A driver allegedly lost control of his Opel Kadett and rolled multiple times before hitting a large tree on the R74 just past Stanger this morning.

IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst said they arrived to find the driver and both passengers had been thrown from the car.

“The female passenger had already died from her injuries.

“The male driver was in a critical condition and advanced life support paramedics had to put him in a medically induced coma and place him on a ventilator.

“The third man in his early 20’s had a few fractures,” said Herbst.

KwaDukuza fire department had to cut up and remove one of the big branches that fell on the road after the car hit the tree.
