Keeping them smiling at Smile with Us

It was all smiles at the Smile with Us community centre at Frasers informal settlement when Hirsch’s Ballito and Curro Mount Richmore School delivered mattresses to the centre last Wednesday.

The five mattresses were delivered in line with the World Sleep Day initiative carried out by the Hirsch’s Homestore branches across the country with Cloud Nine and Rest Assured (CNRA).

The centre provides lunch and a place of safety for over 130 adults and children from Monday to Friday. An initiative was held with schools in the areas in which the different Hirsch’s branches operate countrywide, where the school in area that could get the most bodies on a bed could nominate a charity to donate sponge mattresses too.

Curro Mount Richmore managed to squeeze all of their grade four pupils onto the mattress.

“The 36 pupils who took part loved the initiative of giving back to the community and having fun at the same time, and a few of them went along to handover the new mattresses to children and their carers at the community centre,” said Hirsch’s PRO Shane Spencer.

Mervin Veerasamy who runs the centre said: “We cannot thank you all enough for supporting Smile With Us, we are eternally grateful to all involved with this initiative.”
