Hot new ride for Specialised Rescue Unit
A lot of hard graft was poured into the realtor's recent raffle with the company's estate agents going out of their way to sell tickets
Specialised Rescue Unit (SRU) are going to take to the waves in a brand new rubberduck thanks to the efforts of RE/MAX Dolphin Realtors.
A lot of hard graft was poured into the realtor’s recent raffle with the company’s estate agents going out of their way to sell tickets.
The combined effort brought in more than R100 000 that was more than enough to cover the cost of the rubberduck.
“I just want to thank everyone who helped make this possible,” said RE/MAX’s Simon Peacock on Monday when the boat was handed over.
“From our agents who did the leg work, everyone who bought a ticket, to our sponsors who donated great prizes – I think we can all feel proud to help these guys who are really modern day superheroes.”
The volunteers at SRU were overwhelmed and delighted at the arrival of their shiny red new ride.
“On behalf of the whole SRU team, thanks to RE/MAX, everyone in the community who bought a raffle ticket and all the sponsors who supported this initiative. Every little bit goes a long way,” said Quentin Power.
The boat will be used for inshore rescues as well as operations in dams and rivers.
Power said the boat held several advantages over their jetskis – including that it was lighter so could be carried to difficult spots and that it was more stable and had room to work on unresponsive patients.
