Pedestrian killed on N2 near Ballito

The woman was struck while on her way home.

A 29-year-old woman was killed on the N2 near Ballito last night (Sunday) after doing her shopping in the busy town.

According to Netcare 911’s Shawn Herbst, at about 6pm they responded to reports that a female pedestrian had been hit by a car.

“Our paramedics found her in a critical condition and immediately initiated a full Advanced Life Support resuscitation,” Herbst said.

Despite the efforts of emergency workers the woman was declared dead.

Herbst said the woman had been shopping in Ballito and was walking home when she was struck in the fast lane of the N2 northbound about 200m north of the Ballito off-ramp.

“The driver of the car was unharmed but frantic and in complete shock. She called her father, who fetched her and took her to hospital to be assessed.”

Umhlali SAPS officers were on scene and will be investigating.
