ANCYL march to new KwaDukuza Private Hospital

The ANCYL leadership and the hospital management are currently addressing the youth league members. ANCYL said there should be local employment and the hospital should not be outsourcing for positions such as cleaning, cooking and gardening, as these positions could be offered to KwaDukuza youth. However the hospital management said they have not finished their recruitment process.

Earlier this afternoon the protesters were getting restless and SAPS had to fire rubber bullets in order to disperse the crowd as they were trying to enter the hospital. The situation has since calmed down.

SAPS fired rubber bullets to disperse the crowd, however the protesters are now back at the hospital entrance. Hospital management is yet to address the crowd, as they are reportedly still negotiating with the leaders of the ANCYL.

According to our reporter on scene, the veld bordering the hospital has been set alight, protesters are trying to break into the water tankers and they have managed to break down the boom gate. They have also gained access to the security office and are uprooting plants, throwing them at the windows.

Hospital management have yet to make an appearance. Protesters are gathered outside the main entrance.

Protesters have forced their way onto the property and the scene is reportedly turning violent.

Traffic is severely backed up on the R102 going into Stanger.

About 800 ANC Youth League members are currently making their way down the R102 Ntshawini towards the new KwaDukuza Private Hospital, to hand over a memorandum to the hospital management as they are apparently unhappy about the lack of local employees.

Hospital management said they are willing to accept the memorandum.
