Body found floating at Genazzano Beach, Westbrook

The man is believed to have committed suicide under tragic circumstances

A father’s grief over his son’s suicide is believed to be behind the discovery of a body found floating just off Genazzano Beach this morning.

Tongaat community policing forum chairperson Nazir Sadack said they got a call last night about a missing person.

“The family of the missing man phoned us around 9pm last night after he had dissapeared at about 7.30pm,” said Sadack.

“The man came down from Johannesburg for a family funeral when he found out that his son committed suicide in Johannesburg yesterday.”

Sadack said they found the man’s car parked at Casuarina Beach – left open with the keys and all his belongings inside.

“We suspect that he walked into the ocean. We started searching for him, but it was too dark.

“We resumed the search first thing this morning and found the body floating in the water in front of the Seatides shop on Genezzano Beach.”

Local lifeguards helped to get the body out of the water.
