Woman burnt alive in Ntshawini for witchcraft

Her home was also burnt to the ground.

It has since been confirmed that the woman was not killed. Two people have been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of the 56-year-old sangoma.

A woman reportedly accused of witchcraft was burnt to death in Sofaya, Ntshawini, just outside Stanger, on Sunday night.

According to KwaDukuza SAPS spokesperson, constable Sibusiso Khuzwayo, her house and five cars parked in her yard were burnt to the ground.

It is currently unclear if all these cars belonged to her and if she was a traditional healer or a Sangoma.

“I can confirm that it happened at around 8pm but police are still investigating,” said Khuzwayo.

Meanwhile in a separate incident, the R102 in Ntshawini has been closed off due to protest action.

The reason for the protest is still to be confirmed.
