Mtunzini’s wanted couple nabbed in Ballito
Police have been searching for the criminals for two days.
A couple wanted for allegedly attacking an elderly man in Mtunzini were arrested in Ballito this morning.
Police have been on the lookout for the man and woman in their early 20s since yesterday.
They reportedly made their way to Ballito after attacking an elderly man with pepper spray and threatened him with a knife.
The incident took place at a caravan park in Mtunzini.
Alpha Security area manager Rex Hunt said the arrest made on Compensation Beach Road, was a joint effort between local security companies and civilians.
He said police had been searching for the couple for two days
“The couple allegedly wanted to steal an elderly couples’ bakkie in Mtunzini. They attacked the man and he fought back.
“They reportedly left when the man’s wife came out of the shower. They fled on foot toward Durban after the incident.
“A description of the couple was shared on Whatsapp groups and that helped security companies identify them.”
The couple were believed to have been sleeping on the streets.
They were detained at Umhlali SAPS but have since been transferred back to the Mtunzini station.
