Man’s arm amputated by train in Shakaskraal
This is the third pedestrian to be hit by a train this week.
A pedestrian suffered serious injuries after he was hit by a train near the Shakaskraal railway station this afternoon.
He was apparently crossing the railway tracks at the time, just two kilometers from were a man was allegedly killed by a train yesterday.
This is the third train related accident this week.
In the previous cases both victims died as a result of their injuries.
According to Paul Herbst of IPSS Medical Rescue, paramedics arrived to find a man at the bottom of a 50 metre embankment in a critical condition.
Due to the patient’s location, access was difficult and they set up a rope system to lift him to safety.
The man’s arm was amputated in the accident.
He was taken to hospital for further care.
