Finding hidden talent

A passion for writing and a determination to leave a legacy is what drives Doringkop author Bhekinkonsi Ngwenya.
Ngwenya has written eleven books and is currently on a mission to help undiscovered writers get published.
His first project was a poetry book titled ‘Africa my beginning, Africa my ending’ that included poems written by pupils of Chief Albert Luthuli Secondary in Tshawini outside Stanger.

He also has two books in the pipeline written by a grade ten pupil, Dolly Mthembeni and a teacher, Nkomke Dlamini.
Mthembeni said she was very excited about her book and hopes it will touch many hearts.
“The book is about two orphans, one of which is a foreigner, and talks about their unique challenges,” said Mthembeni.
Dlamini’s book titled ‘Formula for Money’, is about her journey to financial freedom.
“For the past twenty years I struggled financially, not because my salary was too low, but because of the way I used to spend money.
“So last year I decided to change and spend money wisely. It was not an easy thing and I thought it would be important to share,” she said.
Ngwenya said he believes there are many good stories in the townships and rural areas, but no one is telling those stories because they lack the resources.
“I was called by a teacher at the school and asked if I could assist their school society. When I arrived I was amazed by the talent and creativity of the children,” said Ngwenya.
