WATCH: Isithebe factory ablaze

Violent protests in Isithebe were dispersed by police earlier today.

Following protests in the industrial district of Isithebe in Mandeni earlier today, a factory is on fire.

Whether this is related to the protest action has yet to be confirmed.

A vehicle was stoned and two skips were set alight before the crowd of over a hundred people was dispersed by public order police.

“Waste Recyclers is on fire but we are not sure what caused the fire as yet,” said Ilembe cluster police spokesperson Sibusiso Khuzwayo.

Firefighters are currently attempting to save the building at 16 Brown Street in Isithebe.
