Gloria is the flavour of the party

Gloria Ndaba is the owner of Zonke Izinto Zinhle Catering.

A Groutville wedding disaster 17 years ago turned out to be the start of a successful and exciting journey for Shakaville resident Gloria Ndaba.

When Ndaba heard the wedding guests were about to go hungry as no food had been prepared, she jumped in to cook a curry – and boiled up a business for herself too.

Now, she is one of the most well-known and respected catering businesswomen in KwaDukuza.

Everyone was blown away by her food and people started asking her to cook at their events.

So she started Zonke Izinto Zinhle Catering (meaning ‘All Things Good’ ).

“Whenever I am at an event, I always find myself helping with something. I enjoy seeing everything going smoothly especially when it comes to my favourite department – the catering,” said Ndaba, who previously worked as a taxi conductor and more recently, a teacher.

She said before she opened her catering company, she would be the first one to arrive and last to leave her neighbourhood events.

She cooked for free and ensured everything went according to plan.

“My children were very unhappy about that, saying I was a party animal. But I could not help it, no matter how hard I tried not to help, I would find myself running up and down helping with the cooking.

Ndaba now caters for events around the province, from weddings to political conferences.

” I also do decorations for events, including parties and weddings.”

She recently resigned from her teaching job to concentrated on her business. One of her regular catering spots is the Hampshire Hotel in Ballito. Hampshire’s key sales manager Nondumiso Zondi said they met Ndaba when she was catering for an ANC function at the hotel.

“Her work was up to standard, we saw the way she was dealing with the guests and her outgoing personality impressed me and the general manager Sue Naidoo.

“We approached her to cater for us when we hosted events. She agreed and we always get positive feedback from our guests. She is just brilliant,” said Zondi.
