Search on for young entrepreneurs

The winner will walk away with a design package, funding to get their product onto the market, a marketing plan going forward and MORE!

Kids, put on your creative thinking caps and show off your business idea at the Young Entrepreneurs Market (YEM) at Sugar Rush on July 28 at 8am.

YEM is a market by kids, for kids and is an opportunity to learn how to set up your own business and fatten up your piggy bank while standing the chance to win a business package worth R40,000.

The master minds behind YEM are two Ballito moms – graphics specialist Diane Hope and businesswoman Belinda Smith.

“I want kids to learn how to fend for themselves. It is so empowering to teach children how to make their own money instead of just relying on mom and dad for pocket money,” said Smith, who is a mom and owner of Caffe Lusso at SMD Ballito, Simply B Meals and Simply B Events.

“Through YEM, children learn to think out of the box. They also learn the responsibility of becoming a business owner, what it is like to have success in what you do and the importance of giving back to the community, which is why we teamed up with Vision 153 who will get a portion of the funds raised from the R350 entry fee.”

  • If you are between six and 12 years old, ask your parents to sign up your business on www.yemballito.co.za by filling out the entry form.
  • You will need to have your basic business plan together which is easily explained in a video and includes: product name and description, packaging idea, costing estimates (wholesale, retail and profit) and the charity your business will give back.

“The Dolphin Coast’s queen of slime and successful young entrepreneur, Skyler Carmichael is our YEM ambassador and her mom, Dreshni along with the other judges will be helping the children with tips on how to be an entrepreneur and to fine tune their business.”

The market will be the day to show off what you have learnt and the judges will choose the winner based on the most innovative product and business plan.

The winner will walk away with a design package (logo, packaging and mini website), funding to get the product onto the market and a marketing plan going forward, POP up stall for a period of four weeks and business strategy and leadership mentorship from LINC Church.
