Country-wide possibility of load shedding tonight

Eskom said the probability of load shedding from 5 pm to 9 pm remains high as a result of industrial action.

It is likely that parts of the country will be left in darkness with a possibility of stage one load shedding tonight.
In a statement released this afternoon, Eskom said the probability of load shedding from 5 pm to 9 pm remains high as a result of industrial action. They said this will only be implemented if absolutely necessary.
“Eskom has sought the services of the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) to facilitate the engagement between the organisation and union leaders to resolve the impasse.
“We are hopeful that all parties will put South Africa first as we endeavour in finding an amicable solution.”Meanwhile, the police are attempting to maintain order and to enable safe access to power stations as these are National Key Points.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to use electricity sparingly to ease the demand.
Power saving measures include: switching off geysers during the day as well as non-essential lighting and appliances.
Eskom will provide regular updates regarding load-shedding and customers can check the schedule for their area on the Eskom or municipal websites.
