Protesters damage councillor’s house – Doringkop

Police are investigating a case of malicious damage to property.

The home of councillor Sanele Mfeka (31) was damaged on Monday morning reportedly by angry residents of Umdlebeni area in Doringkop.

The residents are believed to have been unhappy with the water problems and they decided to protest and attack their councillor’s house.

“They broke windows, a sliding door and burnt clothes that were hanging on the line.

“No one was injured and I am in a safe place, together with my family,” said Mfeka.

KwaDukuza police spokesperson constable Sibusiso Khuzwayo said police are investigating a case of malicious damage to property.

“No one was arrested and the councillor was taken to a safe place,” said Khuzwayo.
