Three dead, 12 injured in N2 accident near Sibaya
One critically injured person was airlifted to hospital.
Emergency services were faced with a tragic accident scene late this afternoon, when three people were killed and 12 others injured.
The accident took place on the N2 southbound lane near the Sibaya off-ramp.

“The back right tyre came off, so it is most likely the driver experienced a blowout, which caused the bakkie to swing from left to right,” said Shawn Herbst of Netcare 911.

“It looked like the back of the bakkie hit the armco barrier, and when this happened, everyone including the driver himself was ejected from the vehicle.”
The black eagle IPSS aeromedical helicopter was used to airlift one critically injured patient.
The other patients were transported to hospital via ambulance for further treatment after sustaining injuries ranging from moderate to serious.
