There are currently some 100,000 passengers, who travel between Durban and the United Kingdom every year; this new route will tap directly into this latent demand
Passengers travelling from Durban to London will now have the convenience of a direct route to their travel destination.
King Shaka International welcomed the first direct flight between London and Durban this Tuesday with the British Airways Dreamliner.
Offering three flights a week, commercial manager of Europe, corporate sales and Africa Levant at British Airways Paolo Dr Renzis said there was a great deal of excitement about the new route.
“We are especially pleased to be offering our most modern and comfortable aircraft in the route and to connect the two wonderful destinations with a direct flight between Heathrow airport and King Shaka International,” he said.

The first flight took off at 5am on Tuesday morning, attracting a large crowd of spectators and celebrations on the new partnership.

MEC for economic devolpment, tourism and environmental affairs Sihle Zikalala said the new development came at a time when we are working on growing our tourism.
“We welcome travellers from the UK and invite them to explore and enjoy everything that Durban has to offer.”
