Trucks crash on R102, trapping driver – Umhlali

The jaws of life were used to free the driver of one of the vehicles.

Two trucks collided on the R102 just south of Umhlali at around 9am this morning (Tuesday).

According to IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst the driver of one of the trucks was badly entrapped and had to be cut free by the KwaDukuza fire department using the jaws of life while under the care of paramedics.

The R102 was closed while recovery processes were underway.

As of 10.40am the road was still closed while rescue crews worked to clear the accident scene.
