Between two worlds – Dolphin Coast medium shares her story
Since the mid-90s Theresa Walstra has been doing readings and helping people along their journey of mediumship.
Her delicate nature and wealth of knowledge make Theresa Walstra the perfect person to meet for a cuppa while you chat for hours about all the wonders of the world.
But there is more to her than meets the eye.
Theresa, who lives in Palm Lakes Estate, is a spirit medium who has spent nearly two decades developing her spiritual gift.
Since the mid-90s she has been doing readings and helping people along their journey of mediumship.
Raised in a Christian home, Theresa comes from a family where psychic ability was quite common and was able to train under the guidance of her mentor and aunt, Marjorie Bray.

However, she only brought her controversial gift to the forefront after spending many years working in multiple industries and receiving several qualifications, including analytical chemistry and metallurgical assay – scientific fields that one would not think to associate with mediumship.
It was only after a bad turn of events that lasted years, that Theresa decided to focus on her spirituality.
“I vowed I would never work publicly,” said Theresa. “I did not want to mislead anyone.”
But unable to go back to the corporate world, she said she soon accepted that this gift was not a choice, but was rather chosen for her.
“As I got stronger it kept unfolding.”
After working online for an international company which allowed her to strengthen her skills, Theresa trusted her growth enough to go out and work on her own.
“This journey teaches us to understand that God provides for us far more than we will ever know, and it is about knowing that there is help out there that exists on a level we will never be able to comprehend,” said Theresa.
Although she says there is no specific way to describe exactly how she does what she does, Theresa quickly learnt to trust the path she was on.
Before a reading she prepares by saying a prayer, before channelling what she calls ‘spirit guides’, an entity that remains as a disincarnate spirit to act as a guide or protector to a living incarnated human being, of which she has many.
These guides use her to communicate messages – from advice and guidance, to messages from people who have passed.
However, Theresa said the biggest price she pays for her gift is heightened senses, and she is left in tears after almost every reading.
This has led to her doing fewer individual readings and instead, she now offers workshops whereby she assists in teaching and guiding those with a spiritual gift like hers.
But one particular journey with a client made such an impact, that it led to the recent publishing of her book Beloved Friend, written by Theresa and her client, Cindy Glass.
Theresa will be launching her book in the coming weeks at various Spiritualist churches throughout the country. For more details visit her Facebook page, Beloved Friend – the book.
