Water utility under new ownership – Dolphin Coast
The managing director of Sembcorp Siza Water, Shyam Misra says customers have nothing to worry about.

Bill payers with a beady eye will soon notice a slight change in the details of their water accounts.
Sembcorp Siza Water will no longer be the provider of water to residents of the Dolphin Coast, as the Singaporean Sembcorp has sold its stake in Siza Water to the newly formed South African Water Works (SAWW).
However, the managing director of Sembcorp Siza Water, Shyam Misra says customers have nothing to worry about.
“Save for our logo changing in due course, none of the operational parameters under our concession contract will change,” he said.
Misra said the way they determine water tariffs is enshrined in the contract and will not change.
“The contract further makes reference to the returns that shareholders are entitled to and same is monitored on a quarterly basis by the provincial treasury as well as Ilembe district municipality, at the same meeting all ward councillors where we render services are invited to attend the meeting.”
SAWW is a newly formed South African water utility that includes a consortium of investors.
Misra stressed that the management team of Siza would remain unchanged and they would continue to render services to consumers as they have done for the past 20 years.
“The senior management team have in excess of 15 years in managing Siza Water.”
The purchase of the Sembcorp shareholding in Siza Water was undertaken by a current minority shareholder of the company, according to Misra, and so ensures the strategic vision and strategy of the company is retained.
“Sembcorp entrusted the running of Siza to the local management team and served the function of oversight and monitoring of their investment, and SAWW will operate similarly.”
He said SAWW would wish to expand their footprint and render similar services to that under this contract to residents of the Siza Service area.
“The management team are unchanged and have extensive experience in running the company and will continue to do so.”
