Eskom warns of possible stage 2 load shedding
Eskom is urging residents and businesses to use electricity sparingly to ease the demand.
The national power utility announced this morning that Stage 2 rotational loadshedding may be implemented from 9am until 10pm tonight.
“The risk of loadshedding has moved from Stage 1 to Stage 2 for today, but will only be implemented if absolutely necessary.”
The Eskom media desk said this was due to the loss of additional units overnight.
Stage 2 calls for 2000MW to be rotationally loadshed nationally to protect the power system from a total collapse or blackout.
According to the Eskom website Ballito may be out between 2pm and 4.30pm, and 10pm till 12.30am.

“We encourage residents and businesses to please use electricity sparingly to ease the demand of electricity. Please switch off geysers during the day as well as all non-essential lighting and electricity appliances to assist in reducing demand.”
For Eskom customers, these schedules are available on the Eskom website.
Eskom customers can also contact the customer contact centre at 0860 037 566.
