Integrity vital for business success – Ilembe Chamber
Despite minor challenges, the year was one of success and growth for the Ilembe business district.
Journalism and law enforcement were key elements in business success this year.
This is according to the Ilembe Chamber who last week handed their prestigious president’s award to The North Coast Courier journalist Erica Abrahams and Umhlali SAPS captain Vinny Pillay for their respective contributions to the Ilembe business community.

Presented at the Chamber’s year-end event by president Xolani Gumede, captain Pillay was thanked for the role he played in maintaining peace and order during labour disputes during the course of the year.
“This award recognises the important liaison role that captain Vinny Pillay plays in enhancing an environment of peace and stability, essential to a local thriving businesses environment.”

Ilembe Chamber CEO Cobus Oelofse commended The North Coast Courier on behalf of businesses, for their unbiased coverage of matters that relate to and impacts on business and the economy.
“The acknowledgment that the well-being of our economy is central to the well-being of our country, heightens this interest and increases the importance of financial and commercial reporting. In these days where the fraudulent Sunday Times exposé, as an example, have created a journalistic crisis of conscience, yet Erica is standing tall in the honest pursuit of her chosen profession.”
The CEO added that despite minor challenges, the year was one of success and growth for the Ilembe business district.
The event was an opportunity for guests who included business owners and community role payers to kick back and relax at the laid-back 45 Eat Street in the Lifestyle Centre.
